Perception

How we view the world has a dramatic effect on our thoughts, experiences, and choices.

We know much about the biology of our sensory systems, from receptors to cortical processing. This section focuses more on the impact of how this information affects us as beings and the filters and mindsets we bring to the table.

We perceive only part of what our senses bring to us. Colours, smells, and sounds are all mental creations.

Perceived information is conveyed by populations of neurons acting together, be it during a symphony or thought construct. Signals converge on processing centres in the brain and are processed in parallel before cortical awareness takes place.
