Introduction
Causes
Atelectasis at day 1
pneumonia can occur in three days following untreated atelectasis. CXR and antibiotics are required.
UTI may occur any time
DVT often occurs around day 5
wound infection usually begin around day 7
deep abscesses (subphrenic, pelvic, subhepatic) begin days 5-6.
Malignant hyperthermia
Malignant hyperthermia develops shortly after anesthesia begins.
Metabolic acidosis and hypercalcemia can occur.
Family history is often present.
