Ruth Dean, a nurse at U of M, looked at laughter in palliative care. She found it is authentic person-to-person connectedness, itt builds relationships, and helps people connect with circumstances. Make people laugh and they'll listen to you forever.

 

 

Pick up on humourous things from patients and laugh with them. Rely on them to make jokes;

 

To laugh is to listen is to learn.

 

tragedy + time = humour

 

humour removes the blinkers of tragedy and allows you to see things from a new point of view

 

A good way to make people laugh is to repeat things back to them.
